Fall Equinox
One of the things that fascinates me about the fall equinox is that there is definitely a shift in the seasons on our dear planet earth. Living in Encinitas which is in the San Diego area, we really don't have much in the way of a true shift as when I was visiting Canada. There was definitely a sense of winter and definitely a sense of summer!
We are tied to the seasons on our beloved mother earth because we are nature itself and in fact we are spirits experiencing a physical existence that is subject to the shifts and the rhythms and the cycles of the seasons.
Of course in our modern day technological and sophisticated world we tend to lose sight of the true nature of our being and sometimes we trade beautiful valleys and forests for valleys of paved roads and forests of buildings.
It is so good to honor these cycles and rhythms because they are also attunements to the various movements of the planets, the stars, and galaxies. To think that we are separate from all of these rhythms and cycles is pure illusion. But to take the moment in our life to honor these seasons even if it's just to contemplate what fall really means. The fall equinox is when the sun is directly over the equator dividing equal parts of day and night to our beautiful planet.
The act of making time itself is the spiritual juice that helps us to realign with it's beautiful purpose in our lives. Our bodies are in fact very much attuned to these shifts and changes even if our minds are not.
The reason why indigenous cultures, that we call ancient, did ceremony and ritual was to honor the sanctity and holiness that we are not separate from nature. But, in fact, we are nature itself experiencing our universe as individual beings. And that we are experiencing the changes of the seasons as we experience the changes within our own being true staying within the rhythm of the heartbeat of our sacred mother earth.
This fall equinox that has just passed is the symbol on the movement of the sun as it passes northward now on our equator, and a symbol of our movement to harvest from ourselves the truth, the power, and the beauty of our inner being.
There's an old saying that slow is smooth and smooth is fast. It's a way of saying that as we slow down and truly enjoy every single breath and stay fully focused in the moment our lives have much more meaning and a sense of fulfillment and purpose than if we're always trying to catch up to some elusive goal.
As you read this today, take the moment to assess where you are in life and how you are enjoying and honoring these seasons of both our planet and those changes of the seasons within yourself.
Blessings,
