Twin Serpents of Light

In my last blog I wrote about the divine channel of light called the shushumna. It has a double pulse of Expansion and contraction of PSI energy light that flows up and down the spinal column through the lenses of the seven chakras.

The ida and the pingala are the twin serpents of PSI energy that weave through the centers of the chakras and the shushumna up and down the spine. You are probably most familiar with the way they are illustrated in the medical professions’ caduceus symbol.

Like the shushumna, they are very much part of the human aura or biofield as it's called nowadays and combined with the seven chakras are the totality of the human biofield that hold our physical nature in space and time.

Some Ancient cultures depict an individual holding these serpents as a representation of the balance of 1's spiritual energy and This is why the ida and the pingala are seen weaving through the seven chakra centers as a point of balance of the whole human being as a spiritual essence holding a physical manifestation.

The reason the word “serpent” is used (you can see them illustrated with serpent heads in the medical caduceus) is that the word “serpent” in former civilizations like the Mayans is really a reference to wisdom or spiritual awareness and higher consciousness.  The Mayan word “kan” means serpent, as in the word Kukulkan, the feathered serpent who is the merging of the physical (earth) and non-physical (spirit) as one.  Kan (serpent) to the Mayans is the very sacred essence of our spiritual being.  It is the serpent who brings the wisdom of the higher cosmic order of our true being as spirits of light.

Have you ever been to Cancun?  It is “Kankun” and means the gathering place of the wise ones!

In many cultures around the world the serpent is seen as the ouroboros, the circular serpent consuming its tail, meaning the essence of our eternal true nature.

You can see the caduceus illustrated and then as the ida and pingala in many ancient cultures as a symbol of holding the balance of the energies (twin serpents) of the sacred feminine and the sacred masculine. It is a reference to holding the power of duality in unity so that one may proceed towards the merging of the two to oneness.

The ida is a reference to the sacred feminine as yin, cool, lunar (and so forth) and the pingala is a reference to the sacred masculine as yang, warm, solar (and so forth).  In the spiritual sense, holding these energetic qualities in perfect balance yields an arising to higher forms of consciousness and spiritual awareness.

When we pray, meditate, do yoga, we are stimulating the ida/pingala through the chakras that help us awaken spiritually.

The circulation of light exercise given in the Blog on the shushumna is also excellent here.  It is the shoshuten breathing or the Microcosmic Orbital Breathing (Video) and Downloadable Circulation of Light and Chakra Breathing ) exercise.  You can practice to balance the ida and the pingala through all 7 chakras and the shushumna doing seven breaths (cycles) or more, as you wish.
